Each supermarket is an independently owned enterprise. Each business has separate ownership. The software agents for retailers, and their suppliers, have been purchased to reduce order errors, improve supply chain communication and reduce costs. This is the first time in Australia that enterprises have adopted software agents to be used on a peer to peer network for business to business transactions. The network can grow to accommodate thousands of businesses. Software agents offer many benefits over traditional ways to address supply chain communication.
